What Seattle Clients Say About RISE

  • "Came in with a shoulder and elbow that've both been through a decade of bad jiu-jitsu choices. Roy didn't just throw a cookie-cutter PT plan at me—he actually listened, asked about how I train, and built something around my schedule instead of pretending I live in a vacuum. He explained why stuff hurt, what each exercise was fixing, and never hit me with the '10% in one session' nonsense. Everything had a reason. The progress was steady and actually noticeable week to week."

    Andy Yeo

  • "I had the pleasure of working with Roy Parsons to help me with an abdominal strain and I was really impressed with his diligence in getting to the heart of the issue and in providing an assertive set of exercises to help me get past it and even found more general issues related to lumbar mobility to help me perform better overall. I was unable to run with my injury and he quickly got me back out and being active again. I also appreciated that Roy had the skills to do some effective physical manipulations on my body and that made a huge difference too."

    Eric Candell

  • "I'm so grateful to Dr. Roy Parsons for helping me with my chronic neck pain. I'm a personal trainer and a dancer, and have experienced chronic pain, issues with hypermobility and have a very sensitive nervous system. I am really picky about who I seek out body support from and Roy has been incredible. He is thoughtful, curious, patient, supportive and truly invested in helping me get back to the movement I love. Thanks Roy!"

Meet Our Seattle Physical Therapy Team

  • Dr. Roy Parsons, PT, DPT

Dr. Roy Parsons is a dedicated physical therapist who helps active individuals and those living with chronic pain reclaim their mobility and return to the activities they love. He earned his Doctor of Physical Therapy from the University of New England and holds a Bachelor's degree in Biology from UC Santa Cruz, grounding his clinical approach in both scientific knowledge and compassionate care.

Roy specializes in working with lifters, fitness athletes and adults across the lifespan with chronic pain. His skill set is unique to people who place a high value on performance, longevity, and feeling at home in their bodies. With a deep understanding of movement mechanics, load management, and injury prevention, he bridges the gap between rehab and physical fitness. Whether you're recovering from injury or looking to optimize your training, Roy helps clients return to—and thrive in—the activities they love.

Roy’s own experience with a high school knee injury—and the fear that came with not knowing if he’d get back to moving confidently—shaped his commitment to guiding others through recovery with confidence and clarity. As a lifelong athlete he understands the physical and emotional toll of injury, and he brings that insight into every patient relationship. He's especially passionate about helping people build resilience, regain agency over their bodies, and rediscover joy in movement—whether that's lifting heavy, hiking trails, or simply living pain-free.

Outside the clinic, you’ll find Roy training in CrossFit classes, hiking, or backpacking—staying connected to the lifestyle he encourages in others. He finds deep fulfillment in helping patients surpass their expectations and feels privileged to be part of each person’s unique journey toward healing and strength.

  • Dr. Stephanie Irwin PT, DPT, OCS, FAAOMPT

Dr. Stephanie Irwin is a passionate physical therapist who has been serving Seattle's active community since 2014. After earning her Doctor of Physical Therapy from Boston University, Stephanie knew that standard care wasn't enough—she wanted to be among the best and offer something transformative instead of transactional.

In pursuit of this vision, she became a Board-Certified Orthopedic Specialist and a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapy. Today, her specialized training in manual therapy, pain neuroscience, and health optimization allows her to deliver fast, lasting results with our clients at RISE.

Driven by her own journey through chronic back pain after a wakeboarding injury, Stephanie understands firsthand the frustration of living with persistent pain that other treatments couldn't resolve. This personal experience ignited her mission to create RISE with a different approach to healing—one that treats the whole person, not just the symptoms.

She has a special interest in lifelong athletes and treating complex chronic pain conditions, particularly working with dancers, runners, recreational lifters, former athletes, and women with pelvic floor dysfunction. Her own experience with injuries as an athlete, lifter, runner, and dancer gives Stephanie a personalized lens on what it means and what it takes to gain freedom from pain and to live a life you love.

Outside of the clinic, you'll find Dr. Stephanie on the dance floor, at run club, exploring hiking trails, or building community around equity and inclusion. She's often planning her next project or learning a new language in some corner of the world—because growth and curiosity fuel everything she does.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • RISE Performance & Health is an out-of-network provider, which means we don't directly bill insurance. This allows us to provide longer, more personalized sessions without insurance limitations on manual therapy and holistic care. Many of our clients receive partial reimbursement from their insurance by submitting a superbill, which we provide at the end of each session. We accept HSA and FSA funds, and we bill auto insurance directly for accident-related injuries. We also accept Washington State L&I claims.

  • Traditional PT clinics often split your time between multiple patients and therapists, limiting hands-on care and personalization. At RISE, every minute of your 55-minute session is one-on-one with a board-certified doctor of physical therapy. We combine expert manual therapy with health coaching to address sleep, stress, nutrition, and movement patterns—not just your symptoms. Our approach gets you better faster because we treat the whole you, not just your neck.

  • Many of our clients notice improvement after the first session, with significant progress within 3-6 weeks. The timeline depends on the severity of your condition, how long you've had pain, and your commitment to the treatment plan. During your free phone consultation and initial 75-minute evaluation, we'll give you a realistic timeline based on your specific situation. Our goal is to eliminate your pain and equip you with the tools to stay pain-free long-term.

  • Your first appointment is a comprehensive 75-minute evaluation ($289). We'll discuss your medical history, lifestyle factors like sleep and stress, and your movement goals. Then we'll perform a thorough movement analysis and hands-on assessment to identify the root cause of your neck pain. You'll leave with a clear understanding of what's causing your pain, a personalized treatment plan, and often some immediate relief from manual therapy techniques. Before your evaluation, we recommend booking a free 15-minute phone consultation so we can hear your story and ensure RISE is the right fit.
